- This book brings together leading examples of the recent research on the biological origins of temperament-related behavior. The book was intended to be useful not only for behaviorally oriented researchers who have found it difficult to keep up with the exciting developments in neuroscience, but also for biologically oriented researchers who might gain a greater appreciation for how their skills and knowledge might be creatively applied to the socially and scientifically important questions emerging from research on human individual differences. The chapters presented here describe advances in the description and understanding of the brain processes associated with temperament-like behavioral events and more molar individual difference patterns. At the same time, they suggest alternatives to the traditional ways in which one thinks about and designs research on temperament. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2004 APA, all rights reserved)
