Lower Palaeozoic erratic favositids from the Island of Sylt, Germany / Jan H. Stel. Petrology of a dolerite in Netherlands offshore well G/17-2 / R. P. Kuijper. Early Phanerozoic trace fossils from the Sierra Albarrana Quartzites (Ossa-Morena Zone, Southwest Spain) / A. Marcos, A. Azor, F. González Lodeiro & F. Simancas

• Twelve species of favositids are described. They are derived from silicified boulders found in Pliocene (?) deposits of the Island of Sylt, Germany. Paleofavosites is the dominant genus in this material. Two new species are described, viz. Paleofavosites oekentorpi and Favosites schuddebeursi. 
• A dolerite intrusion in Upper Carboniferous sediments in Netherlands offshore block G/17 is described. Based on electron microprobe analyses of clinopyroxene and olivine, a minimum temperature of emplacement of some 1000°C is calculated. As a result of the intrusion, the maturation profile of the surrounding sediments may show a departure from linear behaviour. 
• Three ichnogenera are described from a 50 to 500 m thick shallow-water sandstone-shale sequence (Sierra Albarrana Quartzites). The ichnofauna consists of the burrows of worm-like animals (Arenicolites, Monocraterion, and Skolithos). The age of this formation, previously considered to be Precambrian or Palaeozoic, has been the subject of discussions. We may now assign it an Early Phanerozoic age, in agreement with the known stratigraphic distribution of the ichnofossils found.
