• Lists some 670 Mozart editions published by about 60 music publishers in Paris. It is based on a systematic exploration of more than 200 public and private libraries all oveer the world. The result is clearly contrary to the abiding cliché that the French had failed to recognize Mozart's genius during his stay in Paris in 1778, and proved that the Paris audience had become acquainted with all aspects of Mozart's work between 1876 and 1825
